Q. How much does it cost to play Big Bucks 50/50?
A: A toonie ($2) per number per week.

Q: Can I use my child's name to register for Big Bucks 50/50?
A: Sorry. All participants must be 19 years of age or older.

Q: When will the weekly draw be done?
A: Every Wednesday. The deadline to play is noon, the Tuesday before the draw.

Q: Is the weekly Big Bucks 50/50 draw made from the toonies?
A: No. The draw is made from the ticket stubs of all registered numbers. Every toonie or pre-pay receives a ticket stub.

Q: How long is my # in the weekly Big Bucks 50/50 draw?
A: It's yours al long as you want to keep playing Big Bucks 50/50.

Q: What does the term “roll-over” mean?
A: If a player does not play his/her toonie or hasn't pre-paid and their number is drawn, that prize money rolls over to the next draw.

Q: Can I play more than one number?
A: Yes, you can register for more than one number. Remember, each number needs to played every week for a chance to win.

Q: How can I pay in advance so I won’t forget to play?
A: We're happy to process your payment in advance.

Q: Can my friends and family across Canada play Big Bucks 50/50?
A: Sorry. You must be a resident of Nova Scotia to play in our draw. Encourage your friends and family from across Canada to get in touch with their local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency to see if they have a 50/50 raffle.

Q: If I win, will my name and picture be used?
A: When you claim or are paid a prize, you automatically grant to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax the right to publish, through all types of media broadcasting, including the internet, for the purposes of promoting the win, your name, hometown and photograph without any claim for broadcasting, printing or other rights. You will have no claim against Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax for invasion of privacy or any other ground(s) by reason of the publication or broadcasting of your name, hometown or photograph or information voluntarily provided by you.

Q. Can I choose my own number?
A: Sorry. As per Nova Scotia lottery regulations, our tickets are sequentially numbered, assigned by us and tracked accordingly. If you register to play at a retail site with a box, you may choose your number out of the tickets supplied at the box.

Big Bucks 50/50 Official Rules and Regulations

  •  When the ticket cards are collected from the Big Bucks 50/50 boxes, the information from these cards will be added to our master list.
  • You can register to play Big Bucks 50/50 at any time and you can register more than one number. Each number must be played every week to win
  • The weekly draw will occur every Wednesday. The deadline to play is Tuesday at noon, before the draw.
  • A notice will be placed on the box indicating the date of the next weekly draw.
  • The winning participant's number and prize amount will be shown on the Big Bucks 50/50 box.
  • Winners will be contacted by phone and/or email.
  • A government issued picture ID is required to collect your winnings.
  • When you claim or are paid a prize, you automatically grant to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax the right to publish, through all types of media broadcasting, including the internet, for the purposes of promoting the win, your full name, hometown and photograph without any claim for broadcasting, printing or other rights. You will have no claim against Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax for invasion of privacy or any other ground(s) by reason of the publication or broadcasting of your name, hometown or photograph or information voluntarily provided by you.
  • If a player does not play their toonie and his/her number is drawn, that week's prize money rolls over to the next draw.
  • Winners have 90 days from the draw date to claim their prize. Should the winner not come forward, a second draw must be made for prizes unclaimed after 90 days following the original draw date.
  • Excepting the Nova Scotia gaming policy that all players must be 19 years or older and a resident of Nova Scotia, the organization has placed no additional restrictions on who may play Big Bucks 50/50. Sponsors, donors, volunteers, members and staff of the organization will be permitted to play.
