Congratulations, Brad Smith.

Brad Smith is the Executive Director of the Mainland Nova Scotia Building Trades Council. Brad holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Saint Mary’s University. He earned this degree as a part-time student while working full-time and raising a family. One of his personal highlights was convocation while his parents, wife Cheryl, and his daughters Alena and Megan watched him go across the stage.

Brad has extensive experience in both the private and not-for-profit sectors as and has worked with government business leaders to forge relationships that bring about positive change. Recognized for building productive relationships across all sectors of our economy, Brad is passionate about facilitating dialogue to realize the full potential of the opportunities available to Nova Scotians.

Brad is the Board Chair of the Dartmouth Sportsplex Community Association. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council, United Way Halifax, Nova Scotia Construction Safety Association, and the Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council, and is the Vice-Chair Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency

When asked about mentors in his own life, Brad identified Paul Kent and Charles Bower as friends and mentors. Additionally, as a long-time youth soccer coach for Dartmouth United Soccer Club he says that some of the most inspiring individuals were the many teenagers that he has coached over the years. He believes strongly that the greatest legacy we can leave is how we help others grow.
