Bowl for Kids Sake Campaign BIG Success

Halifax - March 29, 2009

Over 1200 people in Greater Halifax traded in their sneakers, pumps, flip flops and cowboy boots for bowling shoes this weekend in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake. The campaign raised over $242,000 to help the agency deliver it's mentoring programs to children throughout the community.

"We've had tremendous support from our community during this campaign," said Lisa Weatherhead, campaign co-chair. "It's been very rewarding to meet so many individuals and businesses who have stepped up to make a difference for kids in Greater Halifax." Lisa and her co-chair Patty MacDonald, both Big Sisters, have great perspective on why this campaign is so important. They've both witnessed how children can flourish when they have someone to believe in them and encourage them to believe in themselves.

Bowl for Kids Sake is the largest, annual fund-raising campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Halifax. All of the money raised assists the agency in creating and supporting meaningful friendships for children with caring, adult mentors.

Right now, there are over 150 boys and girls in Greater Halifax waiting to experience a fulfilling friendship with a Big Brother or Big Sister. This is why the success of the Bowl for Kids Sake campaign is so vital. Thanks to everyone who made this success possible.
