	February 16, 2011 Effective immediately, there is a change in the cost of police record checks. Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to inform our volunteers about a change in the cost for a police record check. Halifax Regional Police have informed us that they are changing the fee from $15 to $30, effective immediately. We hope to find a sponsor or funder who may assist us in offsetting this cost, but in the meantime, we will have to pass this cost on to our volunteers. Sorry for any inconvenience, but as an agency that takes great pride in our commitment to the safety of children in our programs, the police record check of all our volunteers and staff is an important part of meeting our national standards for service delivery.
